Han Solo Coffee Table

Han Solo Coffee Table

The latest collectible from Awe Me’s Super Fan Builds is a coffee table based on Han Solo’s carbonite block. Because the metallic block could’ve been Han’s coffin if he wasn’t reanimated, Super Fan Builds built the table using an actual wooden coffin as its base. Super Fan Builds built the morbid table for Ray Choi. Ray is a member of the 501st Legion, the world famous group of Star Wars cosplayers that use their talents and costumes to participate in charitable events. As the icing on this cold death cake, Super Fan Builds put Ray’s face on Han’s frozen body and gave him a Han Solo costume. This is one of the few presents that’s equally appropriate for someone you love and someone you hate.

GIF The latest episode of Super-Fan Builds just hit the internet and this time the lucky recipient is a member of the 501st, a group of Star Wars fans who build their own replica costumes and visit hospitals and other charitable events while dressed in character. If anyone deserves an amazing 'Han Solo frozen in carbonite'-themed coffee table, it's Ray Choi who has nine hand-made costumes in his repertoire. The fact that the table was built from an actual wooden coffin is a little creepy, but the inclusion of detailed light-up panels, and a Han Solo that's actually sculpted to look like Ray, is pretty awesome. Even if it means there's less real estate to put actual coffee mugs, magazines, remote controls, and lightsabers.Toyland: We love toys. Join us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.

We had a lot of fun creating this one-off piece of furniture art.  The Han Solo section traces back to a casting from the original prop from the Empire Strikes Back, which we encased in a custom metal frame for the desk, which is supported on custom, lighted “carbonite chamber” panels in the classic Star Wars, the Empire Strikes Back style dot-dash pattern. We’ve become known for our unique, themed and geeky take on everyday furniture like desks and coffee tables. Mark eventually put the piece up for sale, and auctioned the one-of-a-kind Han Solo desk raising over $10,000 for charity!

In this week’s episode, Baker and his crew built a Han Solo in carbonite coffin coffee table for Ray Choi, a fan who volunteers as a Stormtrooper with the “Star Wars” cosplay charity organization the 501st Legion. His friends and fellow Stormtroopers decided to show him their gratitude with an epic gift he’ll treasure forever.

The Star Wars Coffee Tables.  There are two to choose from.  Personally we’d go with the Millennium Falcon since the Han Solo in Carbonite version seems a bit too disconcerting for us to sit for long periods of time in a relaxed state.  But who knows.  Maybe you’re a satist at heart and the idea of Harrison Ford frozen in time, sitting in the middle of your home’s living room has a certain appeal.  Choose either one, though, and we’re sure you’ll have people gushing about how awesomely geeky you are.
